You may or may not know this, but I have always wanted to run my own business. Both of my brothers are entrepreneurs and I think having that modeled to me, especially because they are 6 and 8 years older, led me to feel this way.
I dropped out of uni after 6 months because I just wanted to get cracking in the working world, and from then on I worked in marketing until a couple of years ago. Along the way I’ve worked on various projects here and there, until my content really took off. None of my previous businesses really went anywhere, and I’m actually grateful for that now because I had no idea what I was doing.
However, this year I decided to scratch an itch I’ve had for a long time - to make my own product. I have been resistant to the idea for so long, despite everyone telling me I should create my own line, because influencer skincare lines can be super cliché (in my opinion, most of the time anyway!).
Plus, we fundamentally don’t need more moisturisers - we have like 7,000 already!
But I started to notice certain items that I wanted to exist, that I just could not find anywhere. So I started looking into how to formulate products with a lab, and decided fine - I will make a product and just see if I like it, how it goes, if it sells, using it as an experiment.
That’s why I say I’m making a product, not launching a whole skincare line.
